3 Most Popular Digital Communication Apps in TT

At the heart of todays’ fast pace world is digital communication. In any major city we only need to look around to see a variety of people on smartphones, most likely using the internet to access services or apps, like WhatsApp, Facebook, Email and even Waze.

What are the various tools?

These apps are essentially the tools people use to get something done. If you want to send a message there’s WhatsApp. If you need to video-chat there’s Skype. If you need to send an email there’s Gmail. Further, each of these apps has competitors with exactly the same or similar features. There are three major communication apps: Email, Instant messaging and social media.

Email

Email can be thought of as the equivalent to post mail or ‘snail mail’. Instead of your local post office delivering your message, your chosen Email provider will. There are various email providers but the most popular ones are Google’s Gmail and Microsoft’s Outlook (formerly Hotmail).

When you log in to your Gmail account, for example, and create an email message and click send; your email provider will deliver your email to the email address you sent it to. All this happens over the internet.

Instant messaging

Instant messaging apps have really evolved from the likes of Blackberry messenger to WhatsApp and Google Hangouts. These apps allow users to send a message to individuals or even group of users. It's really convenient for organizing those insanely awesome Saturday girls night out parties.

Social media

Speaking of parties, social media is where its at. Social media is usually synonymous with Facebook, the major player in the social media space. Though there are other social media players like Snapchat and Instagram. Social media is great for keeping in touch with friends and family. Just remember to think before you post those party pictures.

  3. I agree with Voncho1, I'm not interested in Facebook at all. If I want to chat we'll go lime, have drinks, take a day trip.
